Hales monument. The uppermost part shows the body of Sir James Hales the Younger, who died during a naval campaign against Spain in 1589, committed to the sea, the painting beneath the kneeling Alice Hales (d. 1592) shows the suicide of Sir James Hales the older in the Stour (1554)
