The original sculptural group at the Sacro Monte of Varallo, representing the Deposition of Christ on the Shroud and known as the 'Stone of Unction'. The group was removed in 1822 and entered the Pinacoteca in 1882. It was replaced by a neoclassical group which remains in the chapel today.
