The fall of Attis is not mentioned in Ovid, but in the translation by Anguillara (1581); close copy after an engraving by Matthäus Merian (edition Frankfurt 1619), based on an engraving by Gaultier (edition Paris 1606), which in turn copies an illustration by Giacomo Franco (edition Venice 1584)
