The chapel was begun in the Complex of Nazareth c.1544 and dedicated to the Annunciation; in 1572 it was adapted to house the Visitation. Sculptures by anonymous sculptor in the early 17th Century; frescoes are conventionally attributed to Luini with 19th-century additions to lower register.
