The first dove is the only dove of Christ and the grace of the Holy Ghost, the second is 'amicta varietatibus' (Ps. 44:15), the dove of David, and stands for the Church, the third is 'nigra sed formosa' (Cant. 1:4), the dove of Noe, and stands for tribulation
