The Virgin Mary appears as New Eve, trampling the serpent, with the earth displaying the Fall under her feet. In the image of the Trinity, Christ appears as Child carrying a cross, as in many images of the Annunciation, hereby hinting at the triumph over original sin through the Incarnation.
