Etching. Illustration for La Croix, Relation universelle, vol. 4, p. 93. The Jagas (Imbangala) would test the courage of captives by tying them to a post and shooting arrows close to them. Those who showed fear were eaten; those who did not had their front teeth removed and were trained to be fierce Jaga warriors
