Further details

Eranos Archive 38/4. Two painted scenes on one wheel-made pottery spouted krater of Late Geometric IIa. Made in Attica, Greece. Said to be found in Thebes (historic - Greece). Painted in style of the Dipylon Master. The Eranos panel note suggests the scene may represent the abduction of Helen of Troy by Paris, Theseus and Ariadne (Ernst Buschor (Griechische Vasen, [Munich, 1940], p. 18; fig. 21) . The scene possibly represents Ariadne (who displays the Crown of Light) departing by sea from Crete with Theseus. (C. Robert (Archäologische Hermeneutik, [Berlin, 1918], 38-9, fig. 24).)
